Adventure motorcycle icon Ted Simon

Iconic motorcycle explorer and travel writer, Ted Simon, set for ABR Festival return.

The word legend can get thrown around all too easily these days. That being said, we genuinely can’t think of a term better suited for our latest festival speaker.

Ted Simon is a bona fide legend of the adventure biking world and is regarded by many as the pioneer of motorcycle travel – a true icon of the movement.

Those lucky enough to attend last year’s ABR Festival will have had the privilege to see the man in the flesh; a rare opportunity to hear first-hand the tales from his extraordinary four-year-long round-the-world journey. Several of you even shared words and a picture with him, or got him to sign your cherished copies of Jupiter’s Travels.

For us here at ABR Festival HQ, we considered Ted’s attendance in 2023 as a one-off – a moment never be repeated. But thankfully, we were wrong…

This week, we received the news from the man himself that he’ll be making the short trip back over the channel to join us again this coming June, and we couldn’t be happier.

Ted will be once again gracing the stages of the ABR Festival sharing his incredible travel experiences, and he’ll be joined by over 30 other inspirational and exciting guest speakers.

This is your chance to rub shoulders with one of the world’s greatest ever adventure motorcycle travellers, immersing yourself into the stories which shaped arguably the most inspirational travel book ever written – Jupiter’s Travels.

This is a not-to-be-missed occasion for every adventure biker…

Jupiter’s Travels

On the 6th October 1973, motorcycle adventurer Ted Simon, embarked on a solo circumnavigation of the world on his 500cc Triumph Tiger. Setting off from London, his insatiable desire to explore took him on a four-year trip covering 64,000 miles through 45 different countries.

Upon his return, Ted wrote his first book ‘Jupiter’s Travels’ which cemented his place in history as one of the most iconic, and respected, adventure bike travelers ever.

Regarded as the best motorcycle travel book ever written, ‘Jupiter’s Travels’ has now sold more than 400,000 copies worldwide, continuing to serve as inspiration to other travellers who seek to know the world better. The book is also thought to be the motivation behind Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s 2004 journey to New York, famously documented in the television series ‘Long Way Round’.
